- Your UWG-B1 gateway
- This quick start guide
- Safety information card
- Warranty card
1.2 What You'll Need
- A power outlet
- WiFi network name and password
- A smartphone (iPhone or Android) or CRIB wall unit
- About 15 minutes of your time
2.Safety First!
Before we begin, please keep these important points in mind:
- Only plug the gateway into proper electrical outlets
- Keep it away from water and excessive heat
- Don’t cover it up when it’s running
- Make sure it has some breathing room (about 2 inches on all sides)
3.Setting Up Your Gateway
Step 1: Finding the Perfect Spot
Look for a place that:
- Is indoors and dry
- Has a strong WiFi signal
- Is within range of your Bluetooth devices
- Has good airflow
- Isn’t too hot (normal room temperature is perfect)
Think of it like finding a good spot for your WiFi router – you want it to be centrally located and not hidden away behind metal objects or thick walls.
Step 2: Getting Connected
- Plug in your gateway
- Simply plug it into any standard wall outlet
- You’ll see the power light come on
- Give it about 30 seconds to start up fully
- Get the mobile app ready
- Download our app from your phone’s app store
- Look for “CRIB Lighting” in the store
- Or scan the QR code in your quick start guide
- Connect to your gateway
- Open the app
- Turn on your device’s Bluetooth
- Press the button on your gateway once
- The light will start blinking blue
- In the app, tap “Add New Gateway”
- Select your gateway when it appears
- The default password is “Admin123”
Step 3: Setting Up WiFi
Now let’s get your gateway online:
- In the app, select your WiFi network
- Enter your WiFi password
- Wait about 30 seconds for the connection
- The blue light will stop blinking and stay solid when connected
If you’re using a business network or have special security, check with your IT team for the right settings.
Step 4: Configuring Your Gateway
Now that you’re connected, you can set up how your gateway works:
- Basic Settings

- Set your time zone
- Choose how often you want it to scan for devices
- Bluetooth Settings
- Choose what kinds of devices you want to detect
- Set how strong the signal needs to be
- Pick which devices to ignore or focus on

- Choose where to send your data
- Set up how often to send updates
- Pick what information to include
- Connect motion sensor:
- Connect to PIR_INPUT terminal, 12V terminal and GND terminal
- Observe sensor voltage requirements
- Use shielded cable for lengths >2m
4. Understanding the Lights
Your gateway uses lights to tell you what’s happening:
Power Light (Green):
- Solid: Everything’s good
- Off: No power – check your outlet
Network Light (Blue):
- Solid: Connected to WiFi
- Blinking: Trying to connect
- Off: No network connection
Activity Light (White):
- Blinking: Scanning for devices
- Off: Not scanning
5. Common Questions
5.1 What if it won't connect to WiFi?
- Check your password is correct
- Make sure you’re using 2.4GHz WiFi (not 5GHz)
- Try moving it closer to your router
5.2 Why isn't it detecting my devices?
- Check if they’re within range (usually about 30-100 feet)
- Make sure your devices are powered on
- Verify your scanning settings in the app
5.3 The lights are all off
- Check if it’s properly plugged in
- Try a different outlet
- Press the reset button once
6. Tips for Best Performance
- Keep your gateway at least 3 feet away from large metal objects
- Update the firmware when prompted
- Clean any dust off the vents occasionally
- Back up your settings after making changes
7. Taking Care of Your Gateway
Your gateway is pretty low-maintenance, but here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Keep it dust-free
- Don’t block the air vents
- Check for updates monthly
- Back up your settings every few months
Remember, your gateway is designed to run 24/7, so you can just plug it in and let it do its job. If you need to move it, just unplug it and follow the WiFi setup steps again in the new location.
